About this song
We wrote this song after Lee picked up a red sticker put out by the WA Conservation Council “The Kimberley is not for shale” as part of their campaign against opening up remote Western Australia to hydraulic fracturing (fracking).
The song asks questions, raises awareness and shares concerns about this energy source that has a track record of devastation and pollution. The song lauds the decision of many WA communities to declare themselves as a gasfield free community that helped hold fracking operations at bay in populated areas.
Unfortunately, the Kimberley and locations in WA’s Midwest have been opened up for fracking despite safety concerns, fugitive methane emissions and community opposition voiced in many reports and enquiries. This song encourages community to oppose fracking and move to a regenerative future now, across Australia.
